It’s like having a healthy candy bar for breakfast
Nutella, toasted hazelnuts and shredded coconut complement each other quite beautifully. I like to cook the shredded coconut with the oats to add great texture and flavor. The combination of each ingredient reminds me of a Mounds candy bar (but with hazelnuts instead of almonds). Since oatmeal by itself is incredibly boring, I like to spruce it up with these sweet and crunchy toppings. Basically, I go ALL out with this Nutella recipe–hence the candy bar for breakfast vibe!
Hazelnuts, not just for breakfast
Nuts are practically a staple in my home, like bread or rice. They are versatile. If you want texture, crunch, wholesome fat, or a meat replacement, nuts can deliver! To save time in several recipes, I crush them with a rolling pin, toast them, and store them in a mason jar. I can easily sprinkle them into or onto practically anything. Once again, they came through for a sista because my pre-toasted hazelnuts were perfect in this recipe. And not just this recipe, but another one where I used hazelnuts in a pesto. Delicious!
Hazelnuts and Nutella…a no brainer!
And, please, let’s not forget the oh so faithful and true, Nutella hazelnut spread. I really love Nutella because it gives me the instant whoosah moment I need for a dessert-like experience. It makes eating chocolate in the morning socially acceptable.
This hazelnut and Nutella recipe gives you that candy bar for breakfast fix without feeling guilty about it. You’re welcome!
